  1.Teaching objectives:
  By the end of the session, most students will be able to talk about the jobs they and others want to do in the future and give the reasons. This will be achieved by
  teaching students some names of jobs: shop assistant, doctor, reporter, policeman, policewoman, waiter, bank clerk, nurse
  2. asking students to make conversations referring to a model:
  A: What do you do?
  B: I’m a student.
  A: What does he / she do in Picture …?
  B: She / He is a/an …
  A: What do you want to be?
  B: I want to be …
  3. asking students to listen to some recordings and finish some tasks
  4. helping students to fulfill some relevant language tasks: asking and answering questions, pair work and role play to practice conversations, making conversations to talk about the jobs.
  Moral objective:
  After the study of this session, students will be able to set up great ideal and life goals, thus they will work hard to achieve their dreams. Furthermore, students can learn to understand and respect others from team work and cooperation.
  Culture awareness:
  Students will know more about the future jobs of the students in western countries want to do.

  Anticipated difficulties:
  1. Students may find it difficult to remember so many new words, especially the spelling of assistant.
  2. It may be a little difficult for some students to listen for certain information.
  Solutions:
  The continuous repeat is designed to help students to overcome difficulties. Furthermore, I also design some tasks to predict according to the pictures of listening parts before listening, introduce some listening skills while listening.
  Step 1 Warming-up and Lead-in
  Enjoy the English song “Peerless
  Greetings and lead-in
  Ask Ss the following questions to have a free talk How are you?
  Do you like music?
  Can you sing?
  Can find the word about jobs?
  Can you tell us the other jobs ?
  3. Brainstorming.
  Step 2. Listening   1. Show Ss a picture from 1a
  T: Look at the picture. Can you see a bank?
  Ss: Yes.
  T:What does the woman do?
  Ss: She is a bank clerk.(Help Ss to answer it)
  T: Can you see other places in the picture? S1: …
  Then teach Ss the new word “hospital” and present the word and pronunciation like this in the screen: hos・pi・tal /’h?spitl/
  T: What do they do? S2: …
  T: What does he do? Ss: He’s a reporter.( Help Ss to answer it)
  Then teach Ss the new word “reporter” and present the word and pronunciation like this in the screen: re・port・er /ri’p?:t?/
  T: What does she do? Ss: She’s a doctor.
  Then show “doc・tor /’d?kt?/ ” in the screen
  T: What’s the boy in Picture h doing? (T point Picture h)
  Help Ss say he is starring now and teach the words now and star.
  2. Activity 1a: Match the words with the pictures.
  Ask Ss the say their answers like this: The boy in picture h is an actor Activity 1b: Listen and number the people [ 1-3 ] above.
  Show the listening strategy 1:
  Pay attention to jobs while listening.
  Then ask Ss to listen and number the people [ 1-3 ].
  Step 3 Repeating and acting
  T: Let’s listen and repeat after the tape. Try to imitate their pronunciation and intonation.
  Play the tape again and let students imitate the pronunciation and intonation, especially the inviting tone and the declining tone. Pause and emphasize on some of the sentences and pause to correct the mistakes if any.
  Ss: (Repeat after the tape. And try to mark some special tones.)
  Then, students work in groups, practice reading the dialogue and try to act it out. Teacher walks around to offer help and check if Ss read with the proper pronunciation and intonation.
  After that, ask students to act it out in class. Other students are to be the guide to see which group act best.
  Step 4 Pairwork
  Ss do pairwork by asking and answering like this:
  S1: What do you want to be? S2: I want to be an actor.
  After one pair of Ss does pairwork by asking other Ss what he or she wants to be.
  Step 5 Listening
  1. Pre-listening: Show Ss a picture from 2a
  T: What do they do? Ss: …
  T: What do they want to be? Ss: …
  2. While-listening
  Before listeningm, ask ss to pay attention the key words like.
  Show the listening strategy 2:
  Pay attention to the key words while listening.
  Ask Ss to listen and number the pictures 1-3 below. (Activity 2a)
  Ask Ss to listen again and fill in the chart. (Activity 2b)
  Step 6 Summarizing
  Go through the sentence patterns on the blackboard, and help students get a summary of what they have learnt today.
  Step 7 Homework: 1. Make a survey: What do your parents do? What do they want to be? 2. Listen to the tape and imitate
